The writers often signal that Charlie’s better than the rest of the Gang. He’s the only person that the Gang repeatedly expresses genuine concern for,  in “Charlie Got Molested” or “Charlie’s Got Cancer,” for example, or here as Dennis worries that Charlie’s going to get his heart crushed but waves off the idea of potential Dee-crushing. And they write him a semi-charmed life, balancing out his terrible moments by having him win at roulette, at dance-offs, and at being liked best by non-Waitress outsiders—Ruby here, his potential cult members in “The Gang Exploits A Miracle,” and, apparently, black people in general in “The Gang Gets Racist.”

Tonight (January 14), " It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia " makes its triumphant return to FXX for its tenth -- yep, tenth -- season. So for the next 10 weeks, you'll have 10 new "Sunny" schemes concocted by the insecure and closeted Mac (Rob McElhenney), the narcissistic Dennis (Glenn Howerton), the despicable Frank (Danny DeVito), the raging alcoholic Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and the donkey-brained Charlie ( Charlie Day ) to enjoy... even if those truly affected by those schemes sadly cannot say the same. (We're looking at you, Cricket.)

On April 24, Charlie and Will Sexton made a rare appearance as a duo, opening for Roky Erickson and Okkervil River at the Paramount Theatre in Austin. Sexton was also the guest performer for Conan O'Brien 's Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour stop in Austin on May 14, 2010. Charlie appeared as a guest guitarist on the band Spoon 's performance on the television show Austin City Limits . The episode premiered on PBS on October 9, 2010. Sexton appeared on one song, Who Makes Your Money . [ citation needed ]

Dexter and his future selves, Number 12 and Old Man Dexter teamed up with their middle aged self Action Dexter and prepared to take down Overlord Mandark. The gloating and obese Overlord Mandark welcomed the Dexters to his domain as he was lifted by his crane, but Action Dexter quickly made his intentions to overthrow him known. However Overlord Mandark remained unfazed and revealed his own counter against the Dexters using his own time machine which summoned young Mandark , Executive Mandark and Braindark to help him defeat the Dexters once and for all.
