I had a a ESI on October 19th 2017 for pain from a radial tear at L4 and L5. This was from an on the job injury from back in May 2017.
Immediately after the procedure I was in excruciating pain and had to limp to a chair near the checkout desk. I felt nauseated, dizzy, tingling and twitching in my left cheek, palpations and shaking all over.
5 days later, I am still feeling awful. I had to ask for the next two days off of work.
I have a worse headache than normal, like an ice pick is stuck in my head. I feel very shaky still, like I have had way too much caffeine. Worse back pain than before the shot. I have had flushing in my face and neck, I looked and felt like I had a bad sunburn. My vision is blurry and I just feel terrible. My back pain was bad enough as it was and now it’s worse and all of these other things! I wish I had never had that injection and will never have another. I know that some people find relief with them and maybe I will in the days or weeks to come. However, I think that this is mostly a way to make Doctors and Big Pharma lots of money!
I wish everyone the best with their pain management.
Do your homework before you get one of these. I did some but I am finding other disturbing potential side effects that I did not come across before the injection.
Most Doctors don’t seem to tell you about these things.
Aspergillus is a common mold genus that humans and animals are continually breathing, but that rarely causes problems. However, in patients with suppressed immune systems, or if introduced directly into the spinal column, the fungus can be deadly. Despite the availability of antifungal agents, aspergillosis in the central nervous system carries a poor prognosis. Though this case sparked the nationwide investigation, as of November 4, the CDC said A. fumigatus had been identified in only one patient. Almost all cases in the outbreak involved a different fungus, Exserohilum rostratum , another common mold that rarely causes problems.
I had three injections all of which worked for a few days to two weeks then stopped. The excruciating pain returned and only Vicoden 5 mg 3-4 times a day controlled the pain. Vicoden at that dose is the lowest dose prescribed. it worked perfectly for several years and doctors refused to prescribed opioids for fear of losing their license. My sister recently died of throat cancer and she complained constantly of pain. She died with unrelieved pain. As a cancer patient she was prescribed Morphine 2 mg. every 6 hours. That is beyond ridiculous but keeps our doctor’s license safe. Our doctors are violating their Hippocratic oath – Do No Harm. They had added a caveat “except when the government is breathing down your neck. Then the patient be damned. I am glad this helped you Randy. I don’t know your clinical status but I am sure it differs from mine. Do you have severe and crippling arthritis?
